School Structure

Key Stage 1 (Ages ~5-7 / Years 1-2)

In KS1, students transition from early years into formal primary schooling. They build foundational skills in literacy (reading, writing, speaking), numeracy (basic number, operations, patterns), and begin to explore the natural world, social skills, physical development and personal, social and emotional growth

Key Stage 2 (Ages ~7-11 / Years 3-6)

KS2 builds on the foundations of KS1. Students deepen their competence in core subjects—English, mathematics, science—while exploring broader humanities, creative arts, physical education and structured independent learning. At Sandpiper this stage emphasises academic rigour, independent inquiry, problem-solving and increasing student responsibility.

Key Stage 3 (Ages ~11-14 / Years 7-9)

KS3 bridges the primary to secondary phase. At Sandpiper students follow the Pearson Edexcel curriculum for KS3, which covers a broad range of subjects: mathematics, English, science, humanities (geography, history, global citizenship), creative arts, design & technology, foreign languages, physical education. The emphasis is on developing independent thinking, critical reasoning, research skills and personal growth.

Key Stage 4 (Ages ~14-16 / Years 10-11)

In KS4, students at Sandpiper pursue the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or equivalent qualifications under Pearson Edexcel. Core subjects include English, mathematics, sciences (biology, chemistry, physics or combined science) and then option subjects drawn from languages, humanities, arts, vocational subjects. This is the culmination of the British curriculum path offered by the school.

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which is designed to support children’s overall development — academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Through hands-on activities, songs, stories, games, and creative play, children develop the basic building blocks for later learning.

What Families & Students Say

““Technology is more than a tool — it’s a mindset. We teach students not only how to use digital tools safely and creatively, but how to become thinkers, coders, and creators of the future.””

— Mr. Derrick Chasimba, Computing, Computer Science Teacher
