Establishment
Sandpiper International School (SIS) was established and incorporated in 1997 under the company name Malindi Education Services Limited. Its founding was driven by the needs of the many foreign nationals living in Malindi who required an international curriculum for their children. The school was initially opened in a facility owned by the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church under a lease agreement.
In its early years, SIS was owned and managed by foreign directors of British nationality who had young children enrolled at the school. When their children later transitioned to boarding schools, the directors chose to hand over ownership and management to the current directors, Mr. and Ms. Ole Kina. Their vision was to continue meeting the educational needs of the community by sustaining an international-curriculum institution in Malindi.
